How do I extract text from a WAV file? ›

Assuming the WAV file is PCM, you can calculate it using the size of the data chunk. The number of bytes per sample is simply the number of bits per sample divided by eight. The number of bits per sample will be present in the WAVEFORMAT structure. This can be used to accurately get the sample count.

Click on the menu next to Import Using > WAV Encoder. Then click to change Setting > Custom and a new window will open. In the WAV Encoder window, change the Sample Rate to 44.100 kHz and Sample Size to 16-bit.

What if the sample size is not enough? ›

A study with an insufficient sample size may not have sufficient statistical power to detect meaningful effects and may produce unreliable answers to important research questions. On the other hand, a study with an excessive sample size wastes resources and may unnecessarily expose study participants to potential harm.

In general, three or four factors must be known or estimated to calculate sample size: (1) the effect size (usually the difference between 2 groups); (2) the population standard deviation (for continuous data); (3) the desired power of the experiment to detect the postulated effect; and (4) the significance level.

Too small a sample may prevent the findings from being extrapolated, whereas too large a sample may amplify the detection of differences, emphasizing statistical differences that are not clinically relevant.

WAV files are limited to 4GB in size as they have a 32bit file size header. W64 is a successor which has a 64bit header, allowing even larger file sizes. Apart from that, since the audio is uncompressed, its file size is large.

What is WAV format for mastering? ›

HD WAVs and WAVs are the highest quality format. A WAV is lossless, so it will preserve all the details and quality of your original file. If you're sharing demos with a label, pitching to a publisher, or sending music to a media outlet like a blog, you need a mastered WAV.
